   Amelia Lau Carling
Amelia Lau Carling was born in Guatemala, the youngest of six children of Chinese immigrants. Surrounded by friends and customers in her family's general store in Guatemala City, she learned about the Chinese, Spanish, and Mayan cultures. Her children inspired her to write Mama and Papa have a store.
