The princess of Aram - About This Book

Summary
King Solomon was known as the wisest man. One day he invited the kings of the neighboring countries to a banquet: they were the King of Aram, the King of Egypt, the King of Persia and the King of Sidon. After the meal they sat in the garden and King Solomon began to speak. He said that everything in the world is in God's hands, even the choice of a wife. God gives a good man a good wife and a bad man a bad wife. The guests, who were jealous of King Solomon, did not agree with him, and decided to prove him wrong.

The King of Aram had a beautiful daughter who was in love with the Prince of Sidon. Her father did not approve of this love. The King of Sidon, who knew how much his son loved the Princess of Aram, suggested that she should be locked in a tower on a secluded island. This would be a test to see if God could give her a husband. All the kings agreed to this plan, and the King of Aram had no choice but to agree too. The princess was locked in a tall tower on a small, secret island. Her sole companions were the birds on a tree, and her food was brought each day by Solomon's eagle.

The Prince of Sidon was heartbroken to loose his beloved. He decided to consult King Solomon in Jerusalem. He took a boat from Sidon to Jaffa. Suddenly there was a big storm and the boat drowned. The prince clung to a barrel and was thrown onto a deserted island. In the morning he saw the tower and walked up to it. He climbed the tree and saw his beloved Princess of Aram. From then on all the kings agreed that only God chooses a wife.
